PRESS RELEASE

Accipiter Radar named Title Sponsor of the Bird Strike North America Conference

Vancouver, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Bird Strike Committee Canada & USA are pleased to announce Accipiter Radar Technologies as the Title Sponsor of the 2009 Bird Strike North America Conference taking place September 14-17, 2009 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This will be the 11th Joint Meeting of Bird Strike Committee Canada & USA. Previous separate meetings of the two organizations have occurred for many years throughout the USA and Canada. The aim of the conference is to raise awareness and share information to reduce the frequency and consequence of bird strikes related to aviation.

The 2009 Bird Strike North America Conference will consist of 4 days of presentations on wildlife control techniques, new technologies, land-use issues, training, engineering standards, and habitat management. These presentations will contribute to an enhanced awareness of the bird hazard issue.

"We are delighted to be the Title Sponsor of this 11th Joint Meeting of the Bird Strike Committees", said Dr. Tim J. Nohara, President & CEO of Accipiter Radar. "This conference is an extremely valuable annual event, which attracts an extensive international audience who attend to become conversant with the latest developments and technologies in bird strike mitigation." Dr. Nohara added that "progress with avian radar has been significant, and as an established world leader in avian radar innovation, Accipiter is pleased to introduce the future of 360° 3D Avian Radar surveillance at the conference."

"With bird strikes to aircraft having been the conversation topic of North America earlier this year following the incident in New York, the Bird Strike North America Conference is the ‘behind-the-scenes’ working group of the many professionals that work to minimize wildlife strikes with aircraft. It is a great opportunity to share and exchange the latest information in the field. I would like to thank Tim and all of Accipiter Radar for their generous support and I would like to thank the Victoria Airport Authority for hosting the meeting this year. I look forward to another great meeting" said Gary Searing, co-chair of this year’s conference.

Attendees will include Airline personnel, Aircraft owners, Aircraft & aircraft engine manufacturers, Radar Manufacturers, Airline pilots, Airport operations personnel, Land-use planners, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada airport inspectors, Military aviation groups, University researchers, Waste management operators, Wildlife control equipment suppliers, Wildlife agencies and Wildlife control specialists.
