Accipiter's mission is to provide the world's most effective and affordable wide-area situational awareness solutions for applications that impact the safety and well-being of the public, individuals and the environment.Accipiter's vision is to grow to become the global leader providing wide-area situational awareness of uncooperative targets by using technical superiority and innovation to create the best value solutions as defined by our customers and business partners. ...more about Accipiter's Corporate Philosophy & Management Principles
BACKGROUND
Radar Network Developers
Signal and Data Processing Specialists Accipiter recognizes that in today's environment of fiscal responsibility, its government and commercial customers demand affordability. Accipiter's approach to addressing this requirement includes the integration of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to the greatest extent possible. Where possible, Accipiter adapts advanced algorithms typically found in expensive, high-end systems to real-time implementations that run on inexpensive personal computers. This approach combined with a unique end-to-end system design methodology results in affordable, high-performance solutions. System features include remote control of radar sensors, automated detection and alerts and remote distribution of target information to reduce human operational cost. Accipiter's end-to-end system design methodology involves taking into account the entire signal path, from transmission of a radar signal through the radar's antenna(s), through the environment, back through the receive antenna(s) and receiver(s), and then through the digital signal and data processors. To support this design methodology, Accipiter has developed a sophisticated suite of computer-based, radar system design and performance prediction tools that accurately model existing and newly proposed systems with sufficient fidelity to enable system design, algorithmic optimization, and system performance activities to be carried out reliably. These tools allow system developers to test out and refine various system and algorithmic configurations on a computer, without having to build a series of prototypes, saving time and money and reducing downstream risk.
In-house Research & Development Sicom and Accipiter conduct R&D under contract for defence contractors, governments and other corporations when it is synergistic and not in conflict with their own R&D programs. This R&D extends to communication systems and biomedical systems that employ similar sensor hardware or processing as found in radar systems. Sicom/Accipiter is one of just a few North American companies that provides advanced algorithmic R&D services to industry and governments. Located in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, Sicom/Accipiter have operated out of its Fonthill, Ontario offices since 1994. Sicom and Accipiter are privately held Canadian corporations.
