Nocturnal Monitoring Products

Accipiter® Avian Radar information networks detect and track the nocturnal activity of birds and bats where human vision proves inept. Many studies of nocturnal activity require knowledge of the altitudinal distribution of birds and bats.  The precision waveform used in our avian radars combined with our automatic, military gold-standard tracking capabilities provide the resolution needed to discriminate bats from similar-sized birds based on the erratic, zigzag paths the foraging bats follow.

The Accipiter® Avian Radar product family includes a number of mature, standard radar systems engineered and configured to meet typical requirements associated with nocturnal monitoring applications.  Each system includes our patented M3™ multi-radar, multi-mission, multi-user target information system, featuring an open sensor and network architecture for flexibility and scalability, protecting your investment for future growth and changing requirements.  A wide range of platform, transceiver, antenna and information system options allow our engineers to customize solutions to meet your particular mission and user requirements.

Accipiter's Total Coverage™ Technology provides complete cylindrical coverage of the entire aerosphere with a beam that scans 0-360° in azimuth and 0-90° in elevation with user programmable scan patterns.

Mechanically and electronically controllable parabolic dish antennas, available only from Accipiter, provide information including latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, heading and size for each radar track. To sample only the altitudinal distribution of birds and bats aloft, array antennas are also supported and configured to scan vertically.
