Proposal Development Specialist

 

ACCIPITER RADAR is seeking a dynamic professional to join our team in a new role as a Proposal Development Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will act as the liaison between Sales, Engineering, and our Project Management Office (PMO), by producing technically and commercially crisp proposals that assist to favourably position Accipiter to win and execute new business. The successful candidate will have above average communication/collaboration skills with a strong process orientation and attention to detail. Your expertise will play a key role in standardizing our proposal writing process and catalyzing communication across departments. Responsibilities:

Lead the Proposal Writing Process:

  • Prepare detailed proposal documents based on customer RFP/RFQ/RFI criteria and take overall ownership of the end-to-end proposal creation process.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between Sales, Finance, Engineering, Legal, Admin & the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure a quality and timely customer submission.

Standardize Proposal Writing Process:

  • Standardize the company proposal writing process and overall structure
  • Support the company’s initiative to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification by writing procedures, instructions and flowcharting processes as needed.

Catalogue Standard Technical Responses:

  • Develop and maintain a catalog of standard technical/commercial responses to efficiently address common customer requirements.
  • Maintain a library of product performance specifications (from latest product literature) to drive technical responses.

Acquire & Maintain Product Knowledge:

  • Stay current on the Accipiters’ latest technology and product developments to ensure current proposals reflect same; utilize current product literature to enhance the quality of proposal creation.

Support Engineering and Marketing Collateral:

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales & Client Services to create product and marketing collateral as needed.

Assist in Project Work and Process Development:

  • Provide support to the PMO in project-related tasks, technical writing, and process development as required.
  • Transition the contract from Sales to PMO, effectively communicating the relevant high-level requirements and scope of work.

Support Contract Review Activities:

  • Support our legal department as needed in any contract review activities on new orders against submitted customer proposals. Propose solutions to address any identified gaps.

 

Required Experience and Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum: Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or equivalent)  Preferred: additional Degree/Diploma in Business Administration (or equivalent)

Experience:

3-5 years of Engineering and business experience with a solid understanding of systems design concepts, construction projects, and project management best practices. Proposal preparation experience in a sales/engineering/project management role preferred.

Technical Skills:

Strong computer skills with proficiency in current Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, and OneDrive/SharePoint. Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tools would be an asset as would familiarity with computer networking concepts.

Communication Skills:

Excellent (English) verbal and written communication skills with a particular emphasis on technical writing. Proficiency in French would be considered an asset.

A SATISFACTORY CONTROLLED GOODS SECURITY ASSESSMENT AS REGULATED BY THE CANADIAN CONTROLLED GOODS PROGRAM AND ABILITY TO PROMPTLY OBTAIN LEVEL II PERSONNEL SECURITY CLEARANCE FROM THE CANADIAN CONTRACT SECURITY PROGRAM ARE PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION.
