Software Developer

ACCIPITER RADAR, located in the Niagara Region, is one of the area’s most progressive and innovative companies. As part of our continued company growth, we are expanding our Software Development team, and seek an experienced Software Developer with demonstrated success working in a team-based environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on-site at our Head Office with our development team, in a technically challenging and rewarding role. You will be implementing software solutions by collaborating with other developers, designers, product managers, and engineers as you leverage and create new cutting-edge technologies, building upon our patented Radar Intelligence Network™ (RIN) Platform Technology. You will work on a variety of front-end and backend technologies that enable radar and other IoT-based data to be streamed, analyzed and visualized via our Surveillance-to-Intelligence™ (S2I) product suite. Ideal Skills and Experience: • Excellent programming skills in some of the following languages: Go, Python, C#, C++ • Web development experience within an open source stack, including HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular • Demonstrated experience with SQL and database programming • Experience developing and deploying applications on Linux and Windows • Experience with agile software development including best practices in software development, testing and continuous integration • Familiarity with network programming, messaging and distributed web applications • Knowledge of GIS, including geo-referenced data and web-based geospatial visualization • Understanding of big data analytics and data warehousing concepts • Familiarity with Azure or other cloud-based platforms • Eagerness to learn new technologies • A pragmatic approach to the application of technology to create business solutions Required Experience and Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years software development experience, exhibiting a growing area of expertise • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar program from an accredited university or college • Experience developing software in a team-based environment • It is a prerequisite that the successful candidate be eligible for, apply for and obtain (i) satisfactory controlled goods security assessment as regulated by the Canadian Controlled Goods Program; (ii) Level II personnel security clearance from the Canadian Contract Security Program.

IT Specialist

ACCIPITER RADAR, located in the idyllic Niagara Region, is one of the area’s most pioneering and innovative companies. As part of our continued Company growth, Accipiter is looking to recruit a full-time IT Specialist with proficiency in Microsoft and Linux Technologies, who will work at our Pelham, Ontario headquarters and report to the Facility & IT Manager. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, proactive and flexible professional with a solid background in fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures relating to the support of Microsoft and Linux-based systems. Duties Include: • Supporting development and maintenance of client and user systems related to a broad range of business areas • Collaborating with colleagues to develop technical and specialized solutions to complex IT problems involving Microsoft-based software products, including Exchange, Dynamics CRM and Microsoft’s Office 365 suite • Recommending process improvements to ensure system reliability, scalability, security, integrity and performance • Hardware and software installing, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting • Providing daily support to the IT department and other departments as required • Other duties and responsibilities as necessary from time to time Required Skills and Experience: • Relevant College/University/Industry diploma/degree/certifications • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, with preference for greater experience • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills • Expertise in Windows and Microsoft software, including MS Office, Exchange • Sound knowledge of Linux OS • Expertise in hardware maintenance including servers, workstation, printers • Extensive knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, firewalls) • Knowledge and experience with maintaining databases and information systems such as MRP software, accounting software, and collaboration software • Motivation and ability to independently learn new OS, software and other technologies. • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken • Strong work ethic, honest, reliable, trustworthy, professional • Attention to detail, highly organized, multi-tasking, and works well under pressure • Friendly, team player, respectful of others Distinguishing Experience or Certification: • Microsoft Certification in Exchange 2016 or higher • Microsoft Certification Windows Server 2012 or higher Details of Position: • Job Type: Permanent, full-time (30-40 hours per week) between M-F 9am – 5pm • Start of Employment: Immediately • Compensation: Competitive wages commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience, and attractive benefits package (following successful probationary period) • Work location: Company headquarters NOTE: Some flexibility may be required with respect to working remotely during COVID-19 (essential business) and periods of government-mandated restrictions.
